Old Dalby Day 2003

Monday 25th August

David Ayres opened Old Dalby Day 2003.

David and his wife Sue moved with their three children from Leicester to Old Dalby in 1969, and still live in the same house today. David has made a major contribution to the life of the village, notably as chairman of Old Dalby Day for the past 20 years. He has seen it grow from a fund raising event for the village hall to the show it is today.

David chaired the committee set up to purchase the old school for use as the village hall,
and was also treasurer of the committee which supervised the establishment of the
local playing field, and the erection of the cricket pavilion. He was also involved
in the organisation of the celebrations for the Queens Silver Jubilee in 1977,
and in numerous other fund raising activities.
