Old Dalby Village Hall Committee

The Old Dalby Village Hall was built in 1858 and used as a primary school until 1965. It was then bought by Ken Harris, Pete Towsey and Sean Anderson, who initially put up the money from their own pockets in order that the hall could be secured for community purposes. The hall was used mainly as a playgroup centre from 1970 until 1984.

In 1984 it was sold to the Parish Council who became the Trustees of the Hall and they handed over the running of the Hall to a management committee who are known as the Old Dalby Village Hall Committee.

The Hall was then extended to include new toilets, a larger kitchen. The roof was also retiled and various beams replaced. Much of the work was carried out under the Government’s Youth Training Scheme.

In 1990, a new wooden floor was installed in the two main rooms.

Since 1985 the Hall has been the central meeting point for various groups including:

Old Dalby WI, Old Dalby and Nether Broughton Parish Council, Yoga, Wine Circle and Old Dalby Singers amongst others.

If you are seeking a venue for your wedding reception or commercial meeting then we feel sure you will find the hire charges above are extremely competitive when compared with those of other similar venues.

Old Dalby Tapestry

The village tapestry (illustrated above) was created between 1990 – 1997 by a group of ladies living in the village. It depicts various aspects of life in Old Dalby and hangs in the village hall.
