10.00 am – a short service of Thanksgiving in Old Dalby Church led by Revd Dr Eric Lott.

12.30 pm – a street party in Main Road followed by children’s games in the Play Park. The judging of the Jubilee Hat will take place.

Monday, 4th June

Cricket Field – late afternoon.

A cricket match is being planned between Old Dalby and Nether Broughton. Family/children’s games will take place at the same time. The BBQs will be available early evening and Irish and Ceilidh music will be played by Govannen; a local group. The bonfire/beacon will be lit after dusk.

All the villagers are invited to these events. If you have family staying with you, bring them along as well. Just remember to provide enough food for yourselves and your visitors.

We are looking for offers of help over the two days: strong boys/girls for lifting tables and chairs on the Sunday, putting up bunting etc. and on the Monday at the cricket field. Please contact any member of the committee or myself and let us know if and when you will be available.

A suggestion has been made for residents of the village to add to the celebrations by planting red, white and blue flowers in their gardens!

are coming to Old Dalby Day 2012.

Great Britain’s international Heelwork to Music team has once again shown that it is a force to be reckoned with, carrying away both a team and an individual gold medal from the European Open Championships in Denmark (22-23 October 2011).

This latest triumph for the Kennel Club’s Heelwork to Music Team GB follows the individual gold and team silver medals they won at the inaugural Heelwork to Music (HTM) World Championships last year.

The Team Gold medal for Heelwork to Music was won following three great performances on the Saturday by Team GB members, Kath Hardman (team manager) with her Border Collie, Amber; Lesley Neville with her Bearded Collie, Angus; and Karen Sykes with her Working Sheepdog, Fly.

Following a brief presentation on the Women’s Institute, the attendees were given a chance to ask any questions that they had. It was clear that the focus of the WI was fun, friendship, education and socialising.

We are pleased to report that by the end of the evening, it was agreed to re-form the WI and the inaugural meeting will take place on Wed 14th December at 19:30-21:30 at Old Dalby Village Hall.

On the evening, there will be an opportunity for ladies to join the WI and annual membership for 2012 will be £31.50 which can be paid on the night by either cash or cheque. In return, each member will be able to attend 11 evenings a year along with 8 WI ‘Life’ magazines and opportunities to take advantage of further events and training that the WI offers its members.

There will also be an exciting opportunity for ladies to form a committee to ensure the future success of the WI and to help to formulate the annual programme of events. Membership on the committee lasts for 12 months with elections to be held each year.

All ladies are welcome to attend and refreshments will be provided.

We hope to see you there!
